Today a number of places so called " Ecovillages " has been established on earth. Healthy and lower environmental impact life has begun in 15,000 different places of Ecovillages worldwide.Ecovillage is a community created by people who seek "creating a sustainable society supported by each member of the community" and "lower environmental impact lifestyle".
Human relations and social structure that are related to a thinking of helping each other in our society have been gradually disappearing but having a consciousness of preventing the rapid environmental deterioration on earth becomes a driving force toward creating a Ecovillage in Japan. Ecovillage is now created intentionally in the world where people live, see and feel the harmonious coexistence of nature and humans, thereby securing healthy and happy lifestyle.
In 1998, Ecovillage was officially recognized for the first time by UN as one of the 100 listing of Best Practice, the best model of sustainable lifestyle.
